Trauma‑Informed Care — FAQ

What is trauma-informed care?

Trauma-informed care recognizes that past experiences can shape your nervous system, emotions, and relationships. It centers safety, pacing, and choice, so you never feel pressured, overwhelmed, or rushed.

Do I have to talk about my trauma directly?

No. You choose what to share and when. Trauma-informed therapy often starts by building regulation skills, understanding your nervous system, and creating a sense of stability before exploring deeper experiences.

How does this approach support healing?

It can help you understand your responses without shame, build your capacity to regulate emotions, and establish a safe foundation for processing difficult memories when you feel ready.

Is trauma-informed care only for people with trauma histories?

Not at all. This approach can benefit anyone seeking therapy that feels gentler and more attuned—especially those who have felt overwhelmed, shut down, or misunderstood in more traditional settings.

Neuro‑Affirming Therapy — FAQ

What Is Neuro-Affirming Therapy?

Neuro-affirming therapy is a supportive approach that honors the natural diversity of human brains. Rather than trying to change who you are, it focuses on understanding your needs, building on your strengths, and reducing shame.

Who Is It For?

It is for anyone who is autistic, has ADHD, is highly sensitive or gifted, or is exploring their neurodivergence.

How Is It Different From Traditional Therapy?

Instead of encouraging “typical” behavior, neuro-affirming therapy supports your sensory needs, helps reduce masking, and fosters self-acceptance.

What Happens in Sessions?

Sessions move at a pace that feels safe for your nervous system. You are welcome to stim, move, take breaks, or communicate in whatever way feels most comfortable.

Do I Need a Diagnosis?

No. Many people seek neuro-affirming care without a formal diagnosis.

Can It Help With Burnout or Overwhelm?

Yes. It can help you understand your limits, reduce overload, and create routines that work with your brain—not against it.

Faith‑Integrated Care —  FAQ

What is faith-integrated care?

Faith-integrated care thoughtfully incorporates your spiritual beliefs, values, and worldview into the therapeutic process in ways that feel natural and supportive to you. It recognizes that emotional, spiritual, and relational well-being are often deeply connected.

Do I have to be religious to receive this type of care?

Not at all. This approach is entirely optional and guided by you. Some clients want faith to be part of their healing journey, while others prefer a strictly clinical approach. Together, we will follow what feels right for you.

How is faith included in sessions?

Faith may be incorporated through prayer, if requested; exploration of spiritual identity; discussion of faith-based coping practices; or processing spiritual wounds. It is never assumed or imposed—you decide the level of integration.

Can faith-integrated care help with trauma or major life transitions?

Yes. Many clients find that pairing clinical tools with spiritual meaning-making helps them navigate grief, trauma, identity shifts, and difficult decisions with greater clarity, resilience, and grounding.

Emotional Support Animal (ESA) - FAQ

What is an ESA letter?

An ESA letter is a clinical document confirming that an emotional support animal helps alleviate symptoms associated with a mental health condition. It may support a request for reasonable housing accommodations under federal law.

What happens during an ESA evaluation?

During a telehealth appointment, we’ll discuss your symptoms, daily functioning, and the ways an animal supports your emotional well-being. The evaluation is collaborative, respectful, and centered on understanding your individual needs.

Do you automatically approve ESA letters?

No. ESA letters are provided only when they are clinically appropriate and consistent with ethical guidelines. Our goal is to ensure that every recommendation is accurate, meaningful, and genuinely supportive of your well-being.

What can an ESA letter be used for?

ESA letters are generally used to support requests for housing accommodations. They do not provide public-access rights like those granted to service animals, and emotional support animals are not required to have specialized training.
